Birthday and Rum

Judy on her morning hike above the mooring field in Iles de Saintes.
We are celebrating J's birthday today in the Saintes. Came over over from Point a-Pitre yesterday on a frisky reach in 20 - 25 knots of solid breeze.
As we were out on our morning hike we reflected on birthdays past while cruising.
Mid Atlantic last year, 2 years at home while the boat was on the hard in Europe, Saba Rock in '14, Foxy's in '13, Esperanza in the Spanish Virgins in '12 and the big party in Zihuatanejo in '11. Next year, how about Columbia or Belize?
After doing our 12,000 steps on the Fitbit we enjoyed a nice lunch with Trip and Nicole off S/V Kalyra.
Now to the Rum........
We earned our second bottle of free Rum a few days ago in the anchorage in Point a Pitre when a 46 foot boat we were keeping an eye on while the owner took a little trip away from the boat broke loose in a 35 knot squall. A couple of French cruisers got to the boat before we did and were starting to get some lines ready to tie off to a big 85' race boat to make sure the dragging boat would not go on the reef. Fortunately we knew where the keys were and could start the engine, get the windlass activated and re-anchor the boat. That earned us a bottle of Rum!
This is actually the second boat we have rescued this year. While in Nevis we watched a 62 foot cruising boat drift away from it's mooring with nobody on board. The line securing it to the mooring had chafed. We got in the dinghy and boarded. Fortunately the owner had left the keys in the ignition ( we always do that when leaving the boat ) so we could get it started. It took us 10 minutes to get a back on a mooring, 15 minutes before the owners came rushing out in their dinghy after seeing the boat drift away. They still owe us a bottle of Rum but said they would find us and pay up one day.
Tomorrow we are off for Dominica, it is windy down here, we have seen no less than 20 knots in a week, but at least the rain has been absent in the last 24 hours.
