An Admiral and a Doctor (PhD)!

Clear, Sunny, Cool
MAJOR milestone in the timeline of SV Take Me There! The Admiral completed the defense of her dissertation on 27 OCT 2016 and we proudly present "Dr Mitchell!"

Musings on this blog have always been about boat life and sailing. This magnificent milestone is no different! The Admiral has been hard at work aboard for nearly 3 years working on her PhD. I am VERY proud to "muse" about this life-moment!

The Musings:

The Dream: Kimberly has built her successful business (Interweave Corp) for nearly 3 decades and moved the company headquarters aboard SV Take Me There in 2014. Simultaneously - she embarked upon a course toward her PhD and has achieved her objective! Anything is possible while living aboard - eh! The boat was her "nest" during many long hours, days, weeks, months plowing through research. It was her home-base while traveling to-and-fro to meet with clients, research partners, cohort peers and subjects of her studies. Of course, it is also our home, office, hotel room and relaxation spot as well! I am so very pleased to provide her the support and love throughout this incredible journey as we embark upon new adventures where she will apply her impeccable work ethic to helping others (corporate or otherwise) in the discipline of "Organizational Leadership" as a "Servant Leader!"

What's next? Don't yet know? This has been a question asked of her (by me) since she started her studies (PhD). Like cruising - she will go where the wind blows her...helping people (which is the very core of her nature)! We think that research will be her first endeavor. I hope that another book or two are in her future (She is already published)? Adjunct teaching is a possibility? The good news is that what-ever her choice...we will likely improve the communications suite (aboard) to keep her well-connected with the outside world (Ahhh - perhaps new toys).

The Value of Effort. Learning new things is a staple of the cruising lifestyle. It doesn't matter what it is...DIY projects to better the boat...education to better ourselves...to help others...there are endless possibilities - all that bring fulfillment and balance to our lives!

The adventure continues!

The photo is of Dr Kimberly Mitchell and her PhD Committee Chair, Dr David Bronkema, moments after her announcement of a successful dissertation defense where her work was accepted with no corrections or adjustments!

You GO GIRL!
