TAA DAA!!! - The New Tender Has Arrived!

01 November 2016 | Herrington Harbour South
Clear, Sunny, Cool
Finally - after much patient waiting...the new tender is aboard and ready to start "break-in." Lots of research and mental gymnastics but we think we have gotten a great deal!

The Musings:

The Choice: 2017 Walker Bay 310 SLRX Super-light armed with a 2016 Tohatsu 15HP, 4-stroke tiller steer short shaft.

The Cost: $6100.00 for the package.

The Reasons: Weight savings, warranty and price. Our previous tender was a center console Avon 310 with a Yamaha 25 HP 4-Stroke. Nice RIB - but at nearly 550 lbs - she was heavy! Technology has advanced a good bit since the old one was made (1999). The Walker Bay has Hypalon tubes (10 yr warranty); Fiberglass, flat deck hull (10 yr warranty); RIB weighs 97 lbs; Motor (5 yr warranty) weighs 123 lbs, electric start. The Walker Bay sales experience was nice and we got great service from our salesman before, during and after the sale! We chose to ship this one in from Racine Riverside Marine in Wisconsin. We had them fit the RIB with a second bench seat and the motor with a stabilizer fin. We are looking forward to breaking her in and are awaiting registration so we can get her on the water.

For now - she is hanging comfortably in our hydraulic davits - SV Take Me There (mother ship) feels so much better about shedding nearly 300 lbs off of her stern. Just enough time left in the season to break in the motor, pull her out and stow it on the fore-deck and winterize.
