The last day at sea on the trip to Lagos was a long ride down the coast and around Cape St Vincent. Motored and motor sailed most of the way in company with a Dutch X49 yacht which only went past when we turned the corner and got 15 knots of wind on the beam. The combination of the new engine and the Autoprop is very efficient giving six knots of boat speed at only about 1,500 revs on the engine. Had to negotiate the entrance to Lagos at night, having missed a few pots on the way. Joan's local knowledge made this a bit less stressful and we tied up on the fuel pontoon and had a celebratory drink or two.
