Forget my preliminary thoughts of a quiet pootle up river. Was out of the shelter of the marina into a 20+ knots wind howling downstream and a lively chop. Continued this way for all 13 miles to Laranjeiras - I guess the presence of a number of wind turbines on the hills may have given an indication of what was to come. The journey was peppered with messages from EE welcoming me to Spain or Portugal as I crisscrossed the river dividing the two countries. Anchored in a great little spot with not much around but fields and a small dock and bar. Felt duty bound (and thirsty after a dog walk in the hills) to give the bar my custom. Will probably stay here for another day before going further up the Guadiana to Alcoutim.
