In Plymouth today to get the bendy boom replaced by Allspars who did the rigging during the refit last year. All went well until they brought the new boom back and it was four inches too short. This meant that some of the furling mainsail remained inside the mast. Red faces all round at Allspars as it was clear they had not adhered to the maxim “measure twice, cut once”! Anyway a couple of hours later and the correct length boom was installed but the delay meant it was not possible to get to Salcombe before dark so we have another night in Plymouth to enjoy, hopefully at Allspars expense.
