Like the best tabloid newspapers, the strapline on this blog will now be "Award Winning." At the Rival Owners' Association Annual General Meeting at the weekend, my diary (edited for the Association's magazine) was awarded the Peter Brett Trophy for best article in 2021. The trophy is awarded annually in memory of the designer of the Rival range of boats and the primary judge is his daughter and Association President Jane Ashe. She said of the piece: "We found the article delightful to read, informative without being boring, and showing 'an open-hearted skipper illustrating Rival ideals' as my co-judge said. We appreciated that you had crafted a complete and satisfying article out of quite a few separate blog posts, which really helped the narrative. I am sure you will have gained more followers."
