The story of Topaz Rival

Sailing adventures of one man and his dog. Please feel free to leave a comment!

Nearly ready to get out and about

A big day today as Topaz Rival was fitted with her new mainsail and stack pack after I popped down to Lymington to pick them up. Thank you Richard for helping me with this job - definitely not one to do solo. Sail looks lovely, but will have to go back shortly to have our sail number sewed on as Sanders omitted to to it - the sail is very white without it! Also have to go back to Hayling to have the decks cleaned as they were stained by dust from sand blasting on an adjacent boat while we were waiting for the hull to be polished! As ever, it’s two steps forward and one step back… Hoping this can happen next week as the tides are good for Hayling immediately after Easter. Other good news is that the hot water system has been fixed, a simple affair of applying some sealing tape to the threads on a replacement pressure relief valve on the water heater. No guesses as to who forgot to do this - I won’t forget next time.
