The entrance to Caminha is challenging with rocks on one side and sand banks on the other. We came in at high tide but left around two hours before high tide, calculating that there would be enough water with a little help from the water taxi which takes visitors to the fort on the island at the entrance. We attempted to follow the same track as we had on the way in, but said water taxi appeared as we were near the narrowest section and motioned us to move nearer the island where the deeper water was. Really helpful at just the right time and we made it successfully out of the shallows on our way to Povao de Varzim. The two dotted blue lines show the our track on the way in and out.
