Arrival - Flores - Azores
14 December 2011
After a little under two weeks we made landfall on the island of Flores, part of the Azores. Our final few days saw many hours of motoring as the wind just disappeared and returned with just 30 miles to our destination. We were forced much further north than expected, reaching 40 degrees or so as the winds stayed out of the east. Flores has a new marina and we managed to cram ourselves in as there had to be over 20 sailboats using the safety of the marina. We were all rafted three deep but there were no waves and very little surge so all was well.
