Best Day Yet!

I usually tell people to wait for at least 3 days before deciding whether they like blue water sailing. I find that it generally takes me 3 days to really get into the whole thing and feel like I could keep sailing forever. I think it helps a lot if you're sailing instead of motoring too but for me on this trip it took 5 days to get into the flow. Today. Partly because I wasn't really wanting to leave Antigua, partly because after the first day, sailing condition weren't all that great.
The morning watch was a bit of magic today - it's always great to watch the see go from black to gray to blue and all the colors of the morning sky as sunrise plays out but this morning we'd been sailing all night, the boat was flying along at 8 knots under full sail without the slightest feeling of strain and it was almost a mystical experience. I've been able to keep that feeling all day. We started the day on the a broad reach on the starboard tack and ended close hauled on the port tack with the engine running as the winds have temporarily gone foul but it's been a truly great day today. It's hard to beat the experience of sailing. Our ETA at the bay remains some time between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning with Annapolis on the week end.
