Amazing Storm

Last night, soon after I sent my position report we encountered an enormous thunderstorm. It took us a few hours to get through it and we both agree that we have never seen anything like the amount of lightning this storm generated. For nearly two hours, there was constant lightning - mostly up in the clouds, thankfully pretty far away. So far, that we didn't hear much of the thunder but that too, was pretty intense. We got through it fine, the wind wasn't much more than 20 knots and the rain was fairly pleasant and washed off the boat quite nicely.
Today has been mostly close hauled under overcast skies with wind our of the NE but we made good progress. Tonight the sky has largely cleared, the wind is now out of the East and we're sailing with all sails set on a beam reach so it's very nice. I expect to arrive at Cape Henry late on Thursday at this point.
