Anchored!

I anchored at 1700 local time. All's well, I'm very tired and looking forward to a complete nights sleep for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'll clear in tomorrow morning and refuel as well.
Land Ho!

In sight of Barbuda on my beam. About 30 miles from Jolly Harbour making good time. I should be anchored well before sunset.
Squalls on parade!

It's been an interesting 24 hours. Yesterday, by 1700 there was enough wind to put up the sails and get a bit of a push. By 2200 it was 10 knots, I turned off the engine and was making 6 knots under sail. By 0300 this morning it was 15+ knots and we were flying on a beautiful beam reach! The autopilot started having trouble when we got to 9 knots so I put in a reef which slowed the boat down to 8 knots. :-) By 0630 the wind was almost 20 knots and I took in more of the genoa. At 0800 the squalls started coming - the first was was pretty good, got up to 30 knots with plenty of rain. Took in more genoa and put another reef in the main and then something happened inside the boom and the #2 reef line was frozen and the #1 was stiff. Of course the wind died at that point so I took the #2 line off the sail so I could get it up and decided to just power through any more squalls - there must have been 6 in the next couple of hours - we spent most of it in flying spray with the rail buried and me behind the wheel soaking wet. It was a blast! I'm very glad it's over, the wind is a sedate 10 knots out of the SE now, we're close hauled with all the sails set and we should make Jolly Harbour tomorrow night with plenty of fuel. p.s. very far from receiving stations right now, it's hard to get messages out.
Getting Close

When the ocean looks like a mirrored billiard table there's just not much point in sails. I kept the mainsail up for shade but the other sails are put away. There is NO wind, zip, zilch, nada. This isn't altogether unexpected and I AM getting the odd puff from the east which is what the forecast calls for about now. That being the case, I should be able to start sailing again tomorrow morning. I'll need that to conserve fuel which is probably just enough to make it motoring alone.
Another beautiful day

There's a nice steady "wind" out of the west which would be awesome if it was 15 knots but it's only 6 and that's just not enough to move the boat so I'm motor sailing still. Everything's going extremely well. I have at least a month's food. Even still have some Cheetos!!! Fuel remains a concern as I don't think there's enough to motor the rest of the way in. Fortunately, the wind forecast has been right on and it's telling me I'll have some good wind in two days and so if that's the case and I can get a good solid day of sailing, I'll arrive on the 16th. If not, and I have to hang around and wait for wind, then the 17th or 18th.
Housekeeping Day

A suitably tropical day without much wind for cleaning up the boat and so I have. All sails are set, motor sailing with about 10 knots of wind. Making good time but I don't think I have enough fuel to motor like this the rest of the way. Looking for at least one good day of sailing before arriving but the 17th remains good. Busy day outside, two cargo ships and a catamaran from Annapolis heading to Jolly Harbour. Small world.
