We are now out at the boat with no car, so there is no turning back now. We drove back to Michigan this past Saturday and got into Grand Haven about 7 PM. Charlie, our dog, was waiting for us at the house when we pulled in. Erin, our daughter, dropped him off earlier in the day. It was nice to be home. We mowed the lawn, worked in our garden, planted tomatoes, squash and some jalapeno peppers. We also ‘took one for the team’ and watched our grandson Michael on Tuesday. It was fun to have him. We played and played. We had a sword fight with foam swords, went to the imagination station at the ‘Y’, and looked for ducks at Chinook Pier. We left yesterday, Wednesday June 2 and arrived at Newark airport at around 3:10 PM. We then had to catch a train to take us to Long Branch, which is just south of Sea Bright, NJ, where the boat is. Riding the train was great for people watching. Very interesting. Today, Thursday, June 2, the marina finished up the anchor windlass. Nancy and I loaded the 200 ft of rope and 100 ft of chain and our 44 lb anchor up onto the windlass. We also installed our outboard motor lift. So when the time comes that we can use the inflatable we will be able to lower the outboard down to the inflatable. So, tomorrow will be a few other items, polish the fuel, open all the necessary thru hulls, and scrub the deck. We are basically done. Saturday will bring our friends, Blake and Jane. We had planned on leaving on Sunday morning, but right now they are calling for rain and thunderstorms, so we may be waiting a day until Monday morning to leave. That should prove to be very interesting as I was hoping to miss all the ferry traffic around New York.
