Just as well Soper's Hole was nice, as we had to spend five days there, from Sunday to Friday. The trade winds, the rain and the water surges were impressive. And the water and power outages in the marina were interesting.

We did a day trip by taxi one day to Road Town to show the Ferraris the sights. We visited the botanical gardens and I saved a local red legged tortoise that lives there and had flipped itself on its back. The old curator's house looks just like the old Queenslander that the curator lived in at the Rockhampton gardens. The plants are similar to those in the Rocky gardens too. I also saw my first calabash tree with the huge gourds hanging on thick stems. Incidentally we received help with finding our way to the gardens from Miss BVI who was a Miss Universe entrant, and who told us she was studying civil engineering at Bradford university. We whiled the rest of the time away at Soper's Hole playing Rickety Kate and Kings, and eating lobsters and rack of lamb at Pussers.

When we finally set sail, we had a lunch stop at White Bay on Guana Island and dropped anchor for the night at Lee Bay on Great Camanoe Island, in honour of Lee. (We have previously stopped at St John island for John's birthday and, in Turkey in 2014, at St Paul's Bay in honour of Paul.) We shared the beautiful spot with a lone sailor in an all yellow boat with yellow sails like those on a Chinese junk, though those are usually red. It certainly would be a safety feature in the ocean.

Next day a lovely sail at 8 knots to Grand Harbour, Peter Island where we moored, and in going ashore to pay the mooring fee at the Oceans Seven bar, we had to have a drink. Possibly that is the purpose of making you go ashore to pay the fee at a bar? We were greatly entertained by those little brown grey pelicans doing fighter bomber dives into the ocean, and they always caught a fish. Such a pretty spot.
