St Lucia for NYE
01 January 2018 | Rodney Bay St Lucia
A spirited sail to St Lucia, with the winds around 28 knots. Fortunately for those prone to sea sickness (me), the sail only lasted a couple of hours. We anchored off Rodney Bay and next morning came in to the very nice marina. Lots of the 2017 Atlantic Rally boats are still in the marina getting ready for the next leg through the Panama to the Pacific. The marina also has the fattest cats I have seen in a while. They lie around in what appears to be a food coma. Coincidentally, we arrived on a Friday, so it was off to the Friday night Jump Up street party at Gros Islet. Very loud music, lots of people dancing and drinking and eating in the street, and some blue smoke. Good fun.
The Lehmans and Leslies did an island tour, which, based on their reports of drive through volcanos, mud baths, pitons, gardens, rainforests and pretty bays and beaches, we have promised ourselves to do after NYE.
We have sampled a creole restaurant (the fish curry in a coconut shell with fried banana was delicious), and a pizza one and are looking forward to our NYE Thai meal.
