American River to Cape Jaffa

15 May 2014
We stayed at American River for two nights and spent the days walking. The walk to the old fish cannery was good albeit not much remains there to be seen.

On the 7th of May we sailed to Penneshaw to meet our friend and fellow sailor Katrina, who is joining us for three weeks. We left the following morning for Cape Jaffa. The sail itself was a little rough and Katrina and I needed to resort to our seasickness tablets! We arrived at the Cape Jaffa Anchorage at around 0230, approximately 16.5 hours after we left Penneshaw. Hence, we arrived in the dark and nearly came unstuck entering a predominantly dark, unknown marina on the little information we gained form the marina manager before we left Penneshaw. Note to self.. if the marina manager does not know what "leads" are his general information on the safety of entering the marina at night is not to be trusted.
