Pulled anchor at Little Shark River at 7:45 am. It was very buggy here this time; no wind to discourage the little devils. We saw a huge croc near Troubadour last night; his entire back had to be at least 12 feet long!
Yesterday we rebedded the stanchion on the port side. Ed checked the engine; the oil is down a bit. He also put some lock tight on an engine bolt; we will probably need to have someone realign the engine and tighten all the bolts sometime. Fuel is one inch below 3/4 tank.
Put all three sails up at 8 am; but had to leave the engine on. Not enough wind to get the job done without it. SOG 6.3 knots. Wind apparant west 9 knots.
Saw lots of flying fish and dolphins this trip, although we were contantly weaving thru fish traps.
Eventually we took all the sail down around noon and just motored the rest of the way. It got real shallow in the Moser Channel near the Seven Mile Bridge.
Picked up a mooring in Boot Key Harbor in Marathon at 3:30 pm. We plan to stay here a week.
We put another coat of paint on the dinghy and finally painted the registration numbers on it.
On Sunday we met Bill & Marlene Walsh and their friends Bill & Judy for lunch and a whole lot of catching up. They were down here visiting friends and were driving back to Key West to fly back to snowy Boston on Monday. So we took them to the cruiser's hangout, Dockside, where we had a terrific lunch. Thanks Bill. Great time....
