September has been less hectic for us, or we're finally learning to relax. Maybe it's because we completed the last major job on our list, finding the leaks in the dinghy. It's been slightly cooler, so we got out the soapy water and after going over the top again, we flipped it over and found a scratch just in front of the reinforcing patch on the port tube - bingo, we have bubbles! An afternoon with the patch kit fixed that, a good ear told us that the one original valve left needed to be replaced, and it's been inflated for two weeks now. That made it a lot easier to paint the documentation numbers on it!
Other than that, there are still a bunch of items on the list, but they're not as big jobs as before, so it's not too hard to tackle them. Chris has replaced the ignition switch, changed the oil in the generator, and wired a computer power supply to the boat's batteries so it doesn't have to go through the inverter; Linda has made curtains for the salon, galley and master cabin. Chris is now playing plumber: new sanitation hose in the forward head, and replacing the fixtures in the shower since we noticed the knobs were a little sticky when we were in St. Augustine.
We spent a long Labor Day weekend at Satori, Lindy's place in Wellington, and relaxed, read, and did yoga (well, Linda did, Chris just did some stretching). We detoured off the freeway on the way back to the marina to see Cocoa Beach for the first time (Linda was there over 30 years ago!), and stocked up on some supplies (aka booze) at Patrick Air Force Base while we were in the vicinity.
In addition to our friends on "Island Time" - Michel, Thanda, Alice, Eloi and Alex, "San San" has joined us in the marina. Jessica, Gordon, and their daughter Gia are preparing their new (to them) sailboat for a trip to Guatemala, having already cruised the Eastern Caribbean in a previous boat. We're pumping them for info!
Adventures of San San
We plan on staying here through the beginning of November if anyone else needs some warm weather!
