Everything's The Same

20 May 2010
Captain Chris
With Linda gone, I did some of the more invasive maintenance tasks, like changing the oil in the main engine, and pulling some cable. Neither is very difficult, but they involve access to the "basement". If you can imagine that you couldn't walk down to your basement, but instead had to move the furniture, lift the carpet, lift up the floor, and then do whatever it was you wanted to do, you can start to imagine what is involved.

Anyway, I completed those tasks and the routine monthly stuff that came up, and still had plenty of time to read. The title of this blog is from Stephen King's Lisey's Story, one of the books I checked out from the library and finished while reading in the cockpit.

The weather has been quite nice, warm and sunny. The last few days Mother Nature has thrown in some showers, too. Close the hatches, open them back up, close the hatches, open them back up...the things you have to do to live in paradise!

Our friends Stan and Kathy on Vespera are back from their cruise through the Bahamas, and getting their boat ready to put back on the hard for a while. Boy, I'm glad we're not on a schedule! I chatted with them a while last night at the Tiki happy hour, even though there wasn't any music due to the showers, and got their take on places to go and things to see.

Linda flies back on Saturday, and I can't wait to see her again! Sounds like she's been having fun, but this is the longest we've been apart since my last 2-week reserve duty in 2008. We'll see how long it takes her to re-acclimate to the warm weather!
