We arrived in Marco on Wednesday. We got to spend time with our friends, Jack and Nancy , from Boston. This is the 3rd time we've seen them in Marco. They vacation one week a month and luckily it was the week we pulled in! It was fun catching up. We had a wonderful dinner with Craig and Susan ( Leap of Faith) at their beautiful home in Marco Island. We finally got to see it after meeting them a year and a half ago in the Bahamas. We met my cousins, Brad and Kathleen, for dinner. They drove down from Ft Myers Friday night. Saturday after breakfast with Craig and Susan, we went to Goodland to see their marina and beautiful catamaran. It was nice to ride in a car! We headed for Fort Myers on Sunday. We arrived in time to head to the beach. We caught up with Kathleen and spent a couple hours with her. We met my college roommate, Kim, for dinner by the pier. We watched a beautiful sunset with a bunch of people! It was a few more people than we saw in the Bahamas. What a great day! Monday we rented a car and picked up Mickey and Edie (Tom's dad and stepmom) at the airport. We went for a sunset cruise. They joined us for 3 days on the boat. We anchored at Caya Costa state park near Captiva Island. We sailed in Charlotte Harbour and then headed in to have Oopsea hauled out on Thursday. We enjoyed our time with Mickey and Edie. It was a dream of Mickey's to sail in the ocean. We are so glad it happened. Thursday we had our car back and enjoyed the day on land. We ate real American food, saw a movie and walked a marina with shops and restaurants. Thursday Friday and Saturday we had to climb a 10 foot ladder to get to our home in the boatyard. Poor Oopsea looked sad on dry land! Friday morning after taking Mickey and Edie back to the airport we worked like crazy to close up the boat. Thankfully the weather was great and it wasn't too hot. It takes a lot to get her ready to leave. We had to pump tanks, take down the sails and canvas, do laundry and store all linens, towels and clothes in large ziplock bags, rinse the salt off of everything, prepare the motors, clean the dinghy, defrost the freezer/refrigerator, clean the bilge, put a sunshade over everything. Whew! Finally by 2 on Saturday we showered and are headed to Alabama to see our kids and grandkids! It's a nice end to our trip seeing them on Easter Sunday! It's a bittersweet feeling! It's been a great 2nd year and a wonderful dream come true!
