Day 10 - Nearly home
19 March 2015
Barbara & Simon
The passage continues, with easterly winds since yesterday...and of course, we are heading east. Not only are there headwinds, but also two swells, one 2m swell from SW and a 1m swell from SE. Combined, these have led to a boat stopping, choppy sea, which we cannot sail or motor straight into, so we are very slowly beating our way towards Cape Farewell, which we hope will be Cape Hello before too long. Good news is that we can now see NZ and can also pick up Maritime Radio, including regular weather forecasts. The forecast states that both swells and the wind are due to ease this morning, so we are hopeful of reaching Nelson tomorrow. All good on board and further developing our skills at being patient.
Thanks for emails...it is lovely to hear news from elsewhere!
