A beautiful winters day visit to the Waitangi Treaty grounds in Northland, NZ.
The weather was lovely for our quick two day visit to Northland. We had two nights in Paihia with my sister. The view over the bay and down to the marina from the Opua hill is still just as lovely accept of course Tuatara is missing from the picture.
We dont know how lucky we are!! NZ is clean , green and gorgeous. No wonder so many cruisers we meet want to either live here or have return visits.
The Hauraki Gulf and Northland still the best places to sail, we havent found anything better yet.
The main purpose for our trip north was to visit Alan's ailing Uncle. The new Jane Mander retirement village is brimming with oldies, fit and not so fit. Seeing these old folk enjoying their new home is great but as we left we both agreed that that we had chosen the right time to do what we are doing before its too late. We had lots more to see and do before we would be ready to push our walkers around a retirement home. But you never know whats around the corner, so find something you enjoy and do it now, dont wait until.....
