The painting of the cockpit and cabin sides has finished at last, what a frustrating month! The weather, a funeral and a lackadaisical workforce conspired against us getting away for our trip to Cambodia and Vietnam. We put off our trip a couple of times, then we booked our flights, put some pressure on the boss, Hamid and it is finished with a few hours to spare. Here in Malaysia the pressure has to be put on quietly with a smile and laugh all round. Luckily Alan is dealing with them as he has a lot of patience, he enjoys working along side the boys. Something about male bonding he misses from being on building sites! Although he is getting tired of hearing "it's ok no problem". We leave the marina at 5pm today and we still have a man on board taking off the masking and Alan is putting.back the fittings that are necessary to keep the boat dry while we are away. The weather has been good to us over the last few days, hot dry days just right for painting.
Rebak marina has been a busy place over the last month, yachts arriving, people coming and going on land travel to all the neighbouring countries. Travel tips, websites, tips on cheap fares and accommodation are shared at the pool or over meals in the Harddock Café. A price war between Air Asia and Malaysian air at the moment insures cheap fares as long as you keep an eye on their web sites. There are always some catches like restricted flight dates and times. We are flying Langkawi toKL for $NZ60 each but the return flight in about a month is $NZ26 each.
We are flying to Cambodia tomorrow morning then traveling through Cambodia and Vietnam flying back to KL/ Langkawi on the 17th of June. I may get some time to update the blog during the trip otherwise see you here in a month.
