On to Portobelo

After two weeks in the beautiful San Blas, we have arrived in Portobello en route to Colon and the Panama Canal. This is a big sheltered bay and a small shabby town, but is historically significant as Christopher Columbus landed here in 1502 on his fourth voyage, it was a gateway for shipping Spanish gold from central America, and is where Sir Francis Drake is buried on the seabed - just off a small island at the entrance to the bay called Isla Drake (surprisingly).
Looking forward to Colon and the canal transit.
