Jeff
The solar panels are finally installed and pumping juice to the batteries. We watch the battery monitor to see the amps flow. The sun peeks out from behind a cloud and the meter goes to "charging 6 amps". Then the refrigerator kicks in and the sun hides again and the meter goes to "discharge 3 amps". When a job comes up that requires a corded power tool and we need to use the inverter, the meter goes "discharge 20 amps".
With the boat still in "toolbox mode" it would be difficult to be off the grid. But we hope that once we are in cruise mode the solar panels will keep up with our electrical needs.
