San Francisco Bay
14 October 2007 | Sausalito, CA
Jeff & Janie
After a pretty nice run down the coast from Fort Bragg we arrived in Sausalito Sunday morning about 11:30am. The wind and seas were as advertised, but the weatherman forgot to mention that we would have pea soup fog for much of the trip. We sat glued to the radar screen, trying in vain to see past the bow of the boat. It's not much fun, believe me.
Finally after daybreak the fog lifted just enough that we could see the breakers lining the cliffs as we made our way through a skinny channel between Potato Patch and the headlands. Then, around Bonita Point and under the Golden Gate Bridge! Pretty kewl (that's California for cool).
We are tied up in Sausalito, walking and people watching in the rain, having a great time. We've been invited to visit the Corinthian YC for a couple of days, and after that we'll probably head over to Alameda. The weather for our trip further south is ugly right now, so we'll settle in and enjoy our time in the bay until it calms down. 19' seas are a bit out of our comfort zone!
