A Rest Day
27 October 2014 | Wrightsville, NC
Tom
We reluctantly pull anchor in Oriental, NC and headed south. We'll be back!
The trip took us past Beaufort and Morehead city (yep real name) and on into Bogue sound. This was a fun change because suddenly the water was clear and blue and full of life. We motored along and saw jelly fish, dolphins and all kinds of birds. Especially Pelicans. these things are crazy the way they dive from great heights at full speed into the water.
We anchored in Swansboro for the night. Big current there but lots of water and room to turn.
We took off again early the next morning. Through this stretch we had to negotiate some shallow water, current, lift bridges on different times and a very busy sunday on the water in North Carolina. Seemed the entire population of the state had turned out to go fishing. It was ridiculous!
We ended up making it to Wrightsville late, tired and hungry we dashed into town, went to the beach and decided.. this place is awesome we have to stay another day!!!
Not to mention we haven't stopped moving in almost a week. We really need a rest Day. So the next morning we bought a boggie board and a couple lawn chairs and went to the beach. It was a fantastic day of sun and fun in the ocean. Eva and I built a huge sand castle. It was a much needed change of pace.
oh yah We also caught about 2 dozen fish. Stripped bass I think. Crazy aggressive fish that fight like mad. Tonnes of fun!
