Abaco Easter

07 April 2015 | HopeTown, Elbow Cay, Bahamas
Tom
We are safe and sound in the Abaco's
Our crossing was delayed until March 31 but went well. The sea conditions were a little rough but fast. No fish but we did have something on for a couple minutes that was very big and had no interested in being brought on board. We also sailed beside a pod of Pilot whales for a short time.
The distances are short between islands in this area so the next morning we moved up to Elbow Cay and enjoyed the Easter celebrations in this very beautiful spot in the Abacos. The local community sponsors a giant easter egg hunt for the kids on Sun. A park is filled with treats hidden everywhere. Close to a hundred kids sprinted into the park after a countdown and spent the next 30 min search for treats.
Eva and the girls from MoMo had a great time. Thank you Hope town!!
The next day we moved a short distance North to Man of War Cay. This is a ship building island with lots of history, friendly people and parks for the Kids. Everything was closed so we spent the day walking and playing in the park.
Its been nice to slow down after several days of traveling.
We will be hanging out in the area for about 10 days. Company is arriving on fri for a week. After that we are North bound in a serious way.
