Out into the Atlantic
21 October 2017 | Atlantic Ocean off Virginia
Sunny and calm. Pleasant.
This morning I was a little delayed when I found out the nearby marina had an inaccessible fuel dock for sailboats. The boaters there told me to follow the outgoing sailboat to the marina where they got their fuel - Bluewater Marina, the same marina the Salty Dawg Rally starts from. I had allowed plenty of time and I didn't need to leave early anyways. I tried to time my departure so that I would arrive at the next port Monday morning.
The ocean is quiet and I am motoring, which is why I went now before the next bad weather kicks up. There is a slight swell running. The water is 70, so I shouldn't freeze tonight, something I wanted to avoid when I planned this trip from the start. I remember making this run in early November. It wasn't fun.
Here is to a quiet night, although I would like to sail some.
