Gotta love that [cold] Florida sunshine
03 January 2018 | Titusville Marina
Very cold, which here means 31-32 overnight
The cold has crashed the warm weather party here with a great big, “HI - I’M HERE!!! Did you miss me?” Well, no, I didn’t. But it’s back anyway.
First came more rain - then the wind came a howlin’ from the starboard side instead of port. One moment calm, the next, wham. When the companionway doors suddenly fogged over - that’s when I knew I wasn’t in Florida weather anymore.
The dock with the bouncing boats took a beating, mostly from boats with large, overhanging anchors.
It is calm now. This afternoon the clouds broke and there was finally some sun. My first reaction was, “Hooray! We’re saved!” But that was soon followed by, “Never mind - it’s still cold. Nuts”
I crawled into the bow lying on my back to tighten more nuts overhead and see what was leaking. The leaking is less, but I have work to do. Unfortunately, I need a second hand, or must learn to be more clever about holding the screwdriver fixed on deck without me.
I used my new labeler to fix up some labels on my DC panel. My favorite old label that I replaced was “REEFER LT”. I think that’s legal in Illinois now, but not sure about Florida.
I hear the marina Osprey outside. The birds all seemed to disappear during the storm, but now the Osprey is back.
