This year's topside project.
01 January 2019 | Larsen Marine
Winter
It seems every year I am fixing what I damaged on my blue topsides. Or Larsen is. Maybe due to the hot sun, I came back from my trip with a crack in both the bow and stern. It seemed like the top layer of fiberglass had lifted off. If it were paint, you would stick a putty knife under it and lift the 'loose' paint off. These two cracks were different from anything I had seen before. When the yard dug into the bow peeling, they came upon some dry and unfinished fiberglass. They felt it was either a manufacturing issue, or a bad repair. Either way, the bow was not solid in that area.
From the Erie Canal, and not getting my back fender down, the rough cement wall gouged a strip on my starboard side. From Nassua, with the rough current and fixed docks, and not quite recessed bolts, I got my starboard side scribbled on. The scratches were many and ugly.
This is the last time I am fixing this paint in the near future. The idea is I will stop marring it so badly. I hope I am better at this now. Small nicks I will live with.
Some repair pictures were posted in the 2019 Gallery.
