Winter 2011 -12 Plans
29 September 2011 | on the farm
For those of you who have not heard yet of my plans for the winter, I am taking UNABATED south once again.
UNABATED has been stored on the hard in Deltaville VA. for the last year and a half. Since then, I have traveled to Virginia to do various odd jobs including removing the engine to repair oil leaks and hoses too difficult to replace while engine is in place. I had the V drive rebuilt along with a new prop shaft. I also had the strut and prop straightened and re pitched. (See last blog entry) A month ago I scrubbed the bottom and reapplied bottom paint (green this time).
UNABATED will be launched on Monday the 10th. I have a slip for two weeks while I put her back together and check out all the systems.
The plan, as it stands right now, is to do the ICW though Virginia and N.C. to
Beaufort. From Beaufort to Fla I plan to do a series of short, possibly overnight hops to various ports along the East Coast. Interim destination is Stuart Fla. to resupply and make a pest of myself with Ron & Joyce while I wait for a window to cross to the Bahamas. Maybe a side trip to Marathon or Key West (weather dependent).
I am planning on getting a mooring or slip for a few weeks while I return home for the holidays (hint hint for those who host holiday parties).
I plan on exploring all the places I missed on my way though the Islands on my way though last time.
Anyone interested in exploring with me or coming down to get away for a few days, I'd love to have you join me.
I'll be starting up my blog again for those of you who wish to follow along at home.
