Corryvrekan

A gentle sail up the west coast of Jura took us to Corryvrekan, just in time to go through with the last of the Ebb tide. It is famous for its whirlpools and ‘walls of water over 9m high’ when the tide and wind, mixed with the narrowness of the channel and unevenness of the seabed create a very disturbed sea. We were going through in the best conditions - ebb tide near slack, neaps and a light wind. So in fact it was a bit dull, a little whirlpool would been fun!.
