14 Aug, an early start to get the tide north and up to Lochaline, off the sound of Mull to meet up with Jeremey and Ruth who are touring in their motor home. An energetic afternoon of walking and kayaking was followed by supper out on deck (still enjoying the novelty of this!...though there were a few midges to contend with).
15 Aug, we continued west and north, destination Canna. We had some great bits of sailing on the way across but a bit frustrating as the wind always seemed to die just when we got going nicely. Off the SW coast of Rum we spent time watching 4 basking sharks, as they swam near the surface with their huge mouths open, filtering small fish and plankton from the water. One came toward the boat and seemed to swim around, it must have been half the length of the boat - so 8m in length. Amazing to see them so close.
