Sharing our Journey

Outer Hebrides

16 Aug. we continued west to the Outer Hebrides, aiming for Loch Eynort on South Uist. Another loch with a large outer loch and a narrow channel leading to an inner loch full of small islands and inlets. We took a look at the entrance channel and decided it looked far too small for us (narrow, rocky with a strong current) so anchored in the outer loch and explored the inner loch by kayak. We were rewarded with a small pod of bottlenose dolphins feeding about 50m from us and then a glimpse of an otter. A stunning evening sky, enhance by 2 red deer stags looking down at us and spoilt by a few intrepid midges who must have flown 200m to annoy us.
