Sharing our Journey

Following the Arctic Terns

5 Sept we set off from Lochinver at 8am into a strong westerly breeze and bumpy sea, which gave the deck and occasionally the helm a good wash down in salt water. But after about 20 miles, we passed the headland of Ullapool and were able to sail in a more southerly direction. With the wind now on the side, we got the big genoa out and had a really good and fast sail down between the mainland and Skye. Although we averaged 7kts it was still a long day, covering 63miles and getting into Plockton at 7pm.
6 Sept. a totally different day, no wind and sunshine. Today we wanted to get further south before some wet and windy weather, arrived on the 7th. So headed back to our favourite hideaway of Tobermory, via the Skye Bridge, through the Sound of Sleat and round Ardnamurchan.
