The longest day 21 June

We thought the longest day was a good day to the longest trip we’ve done with just the two of us; just under 100 miles from Kirkwall to Kinlochbervie on the NW coast of the mainland. Windier and more westerly than expected to start with, meant we made some slow progress to begin with, but it soon settled to a pleasant 15 Kts and we had a grand sail. The sun came out as we rounded Cape Wrath and we had a glorious evening to view the spectacular NW coastline. Arrived at Kinlochbervie just after 9pm, only to find another Discovery 55 there, quite a surprise. We tied up alongside them and later found out that the boat is stuck there waiting for a part for the engine. Glad its not just us that has to sit around waiting for parts!
