We have been here before and anchored in the pretty bay but only stayed for 6 hours to have lunch and then a sleep before setting off on a 2 night passage to over winter in Sicily for the first time in 2016/2017. It was pretty then and is still very pretty, with the most inviting blue water for swimming. Yes, we had the first swim of the summer and threw off the duvet; it has certainly warmered up as the nights have been chilly so far.

This bay is a nature reserve and there are three areas, "no go", "go, but no anchoring" and behind the little island of Marathonisi is the permitted anchorage of Keri. The "no go" area is where the loggerhead sea turtle is protected whilst laying eggs in the sand on the beach. However there are a vast amount of day tripper boats around so it is amazing that they manage to breed and lay their eggs.

The first night we only had three other yachts anchored up with us so quite peaceful; the 2nd day there were 10 of us anchored ( but plenty of room) and a Polish yacht came in and had some teething problems, it looked new and the in-mast furling got stuck and the anchor chain kept skipping off the windlass. But apart from that it still was a quiet and peaceful day and night.

To go into the anchorage you need to pass between the main island of Zakinthos and Marathonisi, there is a shelf of rocks if you pass Marathonisi on your port side which is not advised.
