Salisbury Catherdral & The Magna Carta

Salisbury cathedral was built from 1220 to 1320 on the gravel river bed in the valley. Originally it did not have a spire, thia was added later and since 1549 it has been the tallest church spire in the UK.
During Jon's stay with us, he climbed the 332 steps up the spire on a tour and we all visited the exhibition of the Magna Carta. This amazing document set many of the legal principals we have today and features heavily in the American Consitution. It was to keep the Barons at bay in the ongoing battle with King John.
The Cathedral is celebrating 800 years and the was a superb light show to music to celebrate the event.
