Montacute House - National Trust
23 February 2020 | Montacute. House, Somerset
Apparently Montacute House is one of the most visited NT properties in the UK.
It is an Elizabethan masterpiece with stunning gardens and a long wide tree-lined drive through the park. The owner Sir Edward Phelips was a lawyer, a politician and the first Speaker of the House of Commins in 1601. He had the house built as his summer holiday home where he lavishly entertained which was his "get away" from the smelly streets in London in the summer.
