Our frequent “lock down” walks often take us through these lovely gardens and we either circle through the water meadows or back into the Market Square.

Salisbury in the July sunshine

There are very pretty walks around Salisbury's city centre and lovely views of the cathedral can be seen from almost every vantage point.

Salisbury Water Meadows

Vic and I went for a lovely walk through the water meadows in Salisbury up to Harnham Hill. It was not a sunny day and did drizzle for about 10 minutes. It was lovely to see the sheep grazing in the meadows either side of the path, so close to the city and cathedral. Covid-19 lock down has eased a little and some pubs and restaurants have opened. We stay safe and wear our gloves and masks. It is amazing how many people don’t though.

Take care and stay safe everyone!

Maintenance treats for Njord

17 June 2020 | Marina di Ragusa
Clare
We may be in week 14 after the official UK lock down but Njord is still being loved. Several maintenance jobs are being done and this week she will have two small patches of caulking replaced on her teak deck. We were advised to make sure the caulking material was compatible with the original type of caulking. For a Malo teak deck we needed the product that does not require a primer. It was quite difficult to track down as this product was out of stock with all the usual retailers, but eventually we got some from Sweden.

Njord will have new safety equipment when we return. The danbuoy, safety light and jack stays, which are the deck life lines have all degraded in the UV rays. She also needed new taps in the galley and heads, which apparently look great.

We had her sails taken away for the winter for washing and any repairs so they are still in the sail loft. That's good news as when strong winds blow across the marina often the air is clouded with a fine orange sand and it "colours" the sails as it gets everywhere, even though we have sailbags and covers when the sails are on.

300944 eventually arrives ...

300944 is the "buyacow.uk" cow, (well part cow) we bought and the delivery finally arrived today. We have been waiting a whlie for our cow and even have some appropriately name "Con Carne" Malbec to pair the steak with tonight for our supper. We have already tested the wine and it is delicious.

Vessel Name: Njord of London
Vessel Make/Model: Malo 39 Classic
Crew: Vic Farhi & Clare Harrison
About: Learnt to sail together and the first sailing experience was in Lanzarote in 2005. We then bought Mandarin, a Bavaria 39 and in June 2012 bought Njord, a Malo 39 from the Baltic.
Extra: As attributed to Mark Twain: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bow lines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
