This was our overnight hop - Caye Caulker BZ to Isla Cozumel MX. We left about 8am (it was an hour and half to travel to the nearest reef exit which was south then east to beyond the reefs to make the turn northbound), arrived 2:30pm local time. It was a clear, no moon night with plenty of stars but since there's not much on shore with lights for a sight horizon, I (Susan) was especially thankful for the calm sea state. We were all by ourselves out there, the only traffic was the Empress of the Sea cruise ship that passed in the opposite direction 18 nm away so it doesn't really count as traffic to watch closely. The anchorage here in San Miguel isn't especially calm with the constant ferry traffic taking people between this island and the mainland, and the cruise ship (5 in various ports today) and resort spawned fishing boat, snorkel boat, dive boat, site-seeing boat traffic rushing about, but we're not going ashore and cruise ship traffic will wrap up by 5pm, plus it's just an overnight rest / rejuvenation stop before we continue on to Isla Mujeres tomorrow. We'll deal.

One of the many benefits of being in MX is our ATT cell plans cover calls, txts and data in MX (as well as Canada) so both our cellphones work without a local sim or cell plan. An especially big plus for me because I don't have to rely on Jerry's cellphone. 👏
