Passage South?
10 July 2008 | St Peter Port
SW 10kt, showers, 1011
For the past nine days we have appreciated the shelter of St Peter Port, while the wind has blown hard from the southwest. It has been wonderful to have Pat with me this week; she has done a great job of preparing for the trip; the freezer is full of home cooked dinners!
At last there may be a window for making south; forecast is for NW Force 3-4 on Saturday morning, which would do nicely for the leg to Ushant. The trick will be to make it across the Bay of Biscay before the next lot of unseasonal LOWS moves in!
So the plan is to leave here early Saturday July 12, routing towards the Passage du Fromveur (Ushant), then towards Finnisterre and Lanzarote. Rhumb line distance 1440 nm; with fair winds hopefully 10-14 days.
I hope to post daily positions via Winlink.
PS: If family & friends enter 'Comments' on the Blog, please note that I can read them and reply, only when connected to the Internet - probably not before arriving at destination. I hope to have email via Winlink of course.
