Stuck in Amsterdam dam dam
AKA Lock 12 on the Erie Canal

After dumping sails and solar panels with my son-in-law Ryan, and collecting the Peaches (also courtesy of Ryan), the mast safely secured on deck we headed out of Hop-o-nose marina and up the Hudson River. It was extremely windy and we were sure it was autumn already. We docked at Waterford and went to a local bar for dinner. There was a big parade in town that went right by the bar. A fun little town!

Got up around seven and went up the flight of 5 locks, one right after the other. Looking back where we came from you realize how high up you have come. Each lock was over 30 feet. Then breakfast- or should I say lunch. We were all starved by then.

Smooth going for the rest of the day until we reached lock 12 in Amsterdam. The gate was broken with 3 boats stuck inside. So nothing was going to happen then - it was already after 5 and the gates stop working. So chicken stew to warm us up for dinner and plenty of wine to go with. Then to bed.

This morning we find lots of water had been let out of the gate. And the really good news as of this very second: 20 minutes and we can get going again. Yeah!

Now for the song:
Amsterdam

There were three jolly fishermen (fishermen!)
Fisher, fisher, men, men, men
Fisher, fisher, men, men, men
There were three jolly fishermen
