Monday night Mentor Harbor YC
We have been busy!
Friday we left in a dense fog. Arrived about noon at the Delucie YC to wait for Dave Walsh, John Fields, and Moby Burton to show up. In the mean time Ivona Jarosz and Dave Burns showed up to visit and have dinner with us. The boys had a screw up situation and didn't make it back in time to eat with us, but they did make it in time for bed.
The alarm went off at 5AM. We quickly left the dock and motored to the start of the Welland Canal. Bad news. We couldn't enter until about 11 AM. please tell me why we got up at 5? I took a nap. The guys visited. Finally we got underway. Going up hill was very difficult. Everyone was exhausted. The boys left within 10 minutes of arriving at Port Colburne and we collapsed.
Sunday we motored to Erie, PA and anchored in a small bay. The Erie area is beautiful on a big bay with several yacht clubs and marinas around it.
Today we motored first with light wind on our nose, then with light wind at our back. No sailing today either. We are at the beautiful Mentor YC and a delicious cool breeze has come up. Enough to keep the biting flies away. It's still hotter than jades below. Might be a good night to sleep on deck!
Tomorrow we are off to Putin Bay at the westish end of Lake Erie. My grandson will remember this place we he helped us bring our boat back to Rochester in 2010. Lots of shops and touristy stuff. Perfect for a 7 year old!
After that we will be going up the Detroit and st Claire rivers to Lake St Claire and Lake Huron.
