22 Miles off San Quintin

Since our noon position yesterday we have covered 130 miles. The breeze dropped out last night and we motored from 1900 to 0215 this morning when the breeze kicked back in and gave us enough to start sailing again in relative comfort. Up until mid morning the north westerly has been light (about 5 - 10 kts) although one gust caught us this morning and snapped the spinnaker pole which is a bummer. I had bought the pole from someone in Longbeach. It was an extendable one and obviously was too light for the job. I'll need to make one in Puerto Vallarta before we make the Pacific crossing.
It's now blowing 18 - 20 kts and is predicted to increase to the low twenties during the night so we have taken in a reef in the main.
Today is overcast and quite cool - quite a change from San Diego weather. We are all pretty tied because the first night out no body really gets any decent sleep so we are each grabbing a snooze when we can during the day.
We have had the trolling line out but are yet to catch a fish, although yesterday we caught a Beneteau 55 as it crossed our stern too close to the lure.
