Duff Reef in a Blow
31 August 2007
Greg
Just a quick update. We are hunkered down out in the middle of the ocean behind Duff Reef sheltering from a very intense low pressure ridge that simply won't go away. We are about 130 miles from Savu Savu and hope to get underway again tomorrow (Sunday) night. This is amazing. In the middle of the ocean a reef 10 miles long surrounding a sand cay about the size of a football field in a lagoon. On the sand cay is one lone coconut tree. Everyone must have seen those cartoons with a guy sitting under a coconut palm on a desert island - well we have found the island. For those with Google Earth, hit the position link and zoom in for a picture.
