12 April 2015 | South of Panama City

10:40am local
We topped up water and fuel and left Panama at 10:00 with forecast fickle and light head winds for days .....
COG 137 [course over ground] SOG 2.9kts [speed over ground]
We'll tack in a few hours on a course of 240 after weathering the Las Perlas islands.
It is still sweltering but at least there is a little zephir to cool us down somewhat.
All is good.
It's probably going to be a very slow passage to the Galapagos. We probably won't be able to tell for a few days whether we'll pass to the North or South of the islands. So we have to travel about a 1000 miles in a generally southwest direction before reaching the SE trades south of the equator (about 2d south). When we reach the trades it should be an easy 3000m ride to Hiva Hoa.
