We made our last turn 4 hours ago: now it's straight to the Marquesas along the great circle route, 2972nm away or about 25 days away if all goes well. The seas are much better and we are going further down wind so that helps the motion also tremendously.
In less than 10 miles we'll reach the 90W meridian, and thus the next time zone, so we'll turn the shipboard clocks back one hour which will mean 2 hours difference with eastern standard time.
In the mean time it's 5:40am still and the night is totally dark. But the temperature has dropped by 4F inside the boat and it's much more comfortable now. Hope this holds... I even have a tee shirt on to not be too cold!! It makes it a lot easier to sleep, something to look forward to rather than dreading going in the aft cabin to lie down. Still haven't seen a thing of the Galapagos (too much mist/fog I guess) although they've been 20nm away from us; and now we're pulling away slowly but surely.
The afternoon and early night gave us squall after squall but now the sky has cleared up a good deal and the wind is more constant.
....Ok i'm going to go take a little nap and when I wake up I think we'll be in a different time zone (it's 89d 54W now)
